The SOAR Project was delighted to host The Gathering Travellers In Education – Celebrating Success, Framing the Future on 23rd of May 2023 at the Kingsley Hotel, Cork. Over ninety people attended what was a very positive, informative event. Irish Travellers, Traveller advocacy groups, Access practitioners, education providers and key stakeholders gathered to showcase models of practice, disseminate research findings, explore outstanding challenges and identify priority actions to enable further Traveller success in education. Highlights of the day included keynote address from Dr. Hannagh McGinley, Education Officer, National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA); passionate discussions with programme participants; a specially-commissioned rap video from Traveller youth group and a powerful performance from Steo Wall.
