Reflecting the connectivity and crossover between SOAR Project work streams, and prioritizing project resources in responses to community need; SETU Carlow and Waterford have combined efforts to promote mentoring supports to participants in the Travellers in Education work stream initiatives. This involves project staff mentoring Traveller students in higher education and facilitating peer-to-peer mentoring amongst Traveller students in college. In addition, project resources and staffsupport mentoring initiatives delivered by community partner groups such as: Mincéiri Port Láirge’s Brighter Futures mentoring programme, Bunclody Traveller Women’s group personal development and literacy programmes and other Traveller Projects.
In Cork, a group of Traveller women engaged in the Southern Traveller Health Network will complete the CPD Certificate in Community-Based Mentoring in 2024.
