Cork Migrant Centre (CMC) supports the integration of immigrants in Ireland with a special focus on the empowerment of those at risk of poverty, social exclusion, exploitation and discrimination. The SOAR Project has collaborated with CMC to support mentoring training and programmes with migrant communities in Cork city and county. Six community leaders completed the Level 8 CPD Certificate in Community-Based Mentoring and are engaged in the delivery of mentoring supports through CMC’s psychosocial wellbeing and integration service. Youth Mentors work with over fifty young people in senior cycle including those living in direct provision centres and those who have transitioned into the community. The programme includes one-to-one one mentoring, information sessions, creative group activities and also extends to parental support. Mentoring programmes aresupported by Access UCC SOAR Project funding.
