Enabling Transitions

Students with disabilities account for 12.4% of all new entrants to higher education nationally. Transition readiness is a critical factor in ensuring successful access, progression and success in higher education for students with disabilities.

There are two distinct strands of work in this work stream; Assistive Technology (AT) outreach training initiatives and a Transition Support Programme for students who identify as being on the autism spectrum.

PROJECT INITIATIVES – TRANSITION SUPPORT PROGRAMME

Based in MTU Cork Campus, the aim of the programme is to support the transition needs of neurodiverse students by showcasing a universal design approach.

PROJECT INITIATIVES – ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY

Assistive Technology (AT) greatly supports learning for all students but in particular students with disabilities. Building AT awareness, adoption and competency amongst students, educators and parents can enhance students’ transition readiness.
