National Access Conference
As part of our Partnership for Access work stream, the South Cluster hosted a national Access Conference on 23 & 24 April 2024, in UCC. The conference facilitated the sharing of new models of practice developed in all regional clusters during PATH 3, exploration of the challenges and opportunities of the National Access Plan 2022-2028 as well as fostering a community of practice and professional development amongst Access Practitioners to enhance Access knowledge and service.

Access to Higher Education: Emerging Practice and Professional Challenges in a Changing Access Context

Following the success of The Gathering: Travellers In Education hosted in May 2023 and in response to emerging recommendations from the Access Practitioner research, the SOAR Project proudly hosted this important event. Over one hundred Access Practitioners, community partners and key stakeholders attended. Parallel sessions were focused on supporting Irish Travellers in Education, developing and enabling transition supports for autistic students and the impact of programmes for those with criminal justice histories.
Keynotes included Muriel Alexander, Development Manager of Scotland’s Community of Access Participation Practitioners (SCAPP), University of Stirling and Dr Louise Callinan, Head of Access Policy, Higher Education Authority (HEA).
The conference provided a unique opportunity for Access Practitioners to share learning and collectively explore the current Access landscape.
